The Dog Talk Project

This is a cool website for dog lovers revealing information about the relationship between people and their dogs.  The information is obtained through survey's from dog owners.  I learned about it through Intermountain Therapy Animals (ITA).  If you are a pet owner, you can fill out the surveys--it's quite interesting!

Bill, Hunter's alter ego

Last weekend, I offered to watch a friend's dog, who we've watched in the past on several occasions. This particular weekend did not go as smoothly.  Hunter always seemed fine around Harvey and Norm and he especially had no problem with humans.  On Saturday night, after a few brawls with Norm over a ball the day before, "Bill" was carrying around Norm's firehydrant in his mouth. Norm, naturally, went over to take it from him, when Bill snarled quite aggressively.  I, not thinking at that moment, tried to grab the toy from Bill and he nearly bit my hand off.  At this point, Dave was angry and went to grab Bill to put him outside.  Bill bit Dave's right thumb and left a deep puncture wound.  Blood everywhere!  It was quite the predicament.
All in all, Dave is fine.  Sadly, I had to tell my friend about the incident.  I did not want to suggest what sort of action they should take.  But, they needed to be aware that Hunter is unpredictable, although they already knew haven given him an alter ego name in the past.
It's scary. I'd like to think I know my dogs and can predict how they're going to react.  For the most part I think I can, but even the most well trained dog can act out of character.
